    Hi,
I am trying to install Visual studio 2005 in my PC which contains Windows XP OS, but the installation is failing. An error message box is displayed which contains "dwwin.exe" as the title. The contents of error mesage are:

"C:\Windows\System32\Xlibgfl254.dll is not a valid windows image. Check the installation diskette."

Can you please help me out in resolving this error ?

    Regards,
    Anil.

    Hi,
I didn't get which disk/CD you meant. I have copied the visual studio installer into the hard disk and from there only, I am running the installation.

Where did you get the installer from? It sounds like it's corrupt.

I tried installing VS on two machines last week.
It worked on mine, but I could NOT get it to work on another one.
I think it was down to the version of the MS Installer, but didn't spend too long looking at it.

I have VS 2005 installed on three machines here, and so far it's just been waiting for the lengthy installation process to complete. I installed VS 2003 on XP-Home in a virtual machine so I could run VS 2003 on Vista, since it's not compatible. :)
