So...it just says irprop.cpl.

Nothing else, no actual error message, just a single filename?

If by any chance there is an actual message, can you repost it, with the exact spelling and syntax?

To set a password, go to Control Panel, User Accounts.

Control Panel - User Accounts - Change an Account - Set a Password.

I think you should be able to follow it from there...

It relates to the Infra-Red options under control panel. The file must be corrupt or missing for some reason.

Go to Start - Run

In the dialog box type:

sfc /scannow

and press enter.

Note the space between"sfc" and "/scannow"

That runs system file checker, and will replace any corrupt or missing files. You may be asked for your Windows XP CD during the operation.
