Every time I download a winamp skin from their site it comes up with the error message stated in the subject after it has downloaded 99% of the file!

When downloading, the file is temporarily placed in here:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\6j8XMZO1\filename"

Is it just because I am not logged in as an administrator, or is it something else???

How can I overcome this problem???

    Cheers :))

It is indeed probably because you are not logged in as the Admin. When you download skins for Winamp, they self extract and install to the proper directory. Sounds like the skin is coming down OK but when it goes to extract and install, it stops as you don't have access.

You don't have to be logged on as the "administrator". You can log on as that and then give your user id administrative rights. This way, you'd be able to do everything the administrator can do. Of course, if you have a constant connection to the internet, I'd be sure to put a password on any account on your computer that as admin. rights.

    Cheers for replying.

Since I put this thread out I haven't made any progress on getting rid of this problem.

I do think I know what caused it though. When I installed winamp v3.0 I downloaded a skin from their web site, I think it was made for version 2.8 cos I got some error about the graphics when it had downloaded and tried to self-extract.

I have also reinstalled winamp version 2.8 and tried to download a skin whilst logged in as an administrator, to no success.

I fear it is not only winamp skins but any file that is downloaded to this temp folder and self-extracted when downloaded.

I think the folder is corrupt or something???

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Many thanx
