For the past two weeks since updating AVG I am daily receiving the following message. I then have to restart my computer before AVG activates:
"Application error. Exception EOle RegistrationError in Module. [email protected] error creating system registry entry". I am running Windows XP on a Dell computer.

I'd uninstall AVG PC TuneUp if I were you. It'll only mess up your computer anyway. I'm really disappointed in AVG for ever coming up with a registry cleaner.

You should avoid Registry Cleaners, Boosters, Optimizers, TuneUp Utilities... This type of software will do a lot more harm than good, and should only be used by advanced users who really know their way around the registry. Never to be used blindly on "Auto" mode. Most members coming here with WEIRD symptoms had their computer messed up by malware and/or registry cleaners. These utilities do not only remove what "they think" are orphan entries in the registry but legitimate files still in use will be deleted in the process, crippling some programs and Windows applications beyond repair.

Keep in mind that they will always find "errors" to fix, even on a fresh Windows install! In itself, this should be enough to convince non-believers...

    First Name:

When AVG decided to add a registry/file cleaner and started enticing people to buy its tuneup/checkup utility, I stopped using it and stopped recommending it. (n)

You really should get rid of it and then use a more user-friendly and less problematic antivirus program.
