I am running XP on a Compaq laptop. Every time I start windows I get an error message. The box reads

    Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\Bridge.DLL
The Specified Module could not be Found.

Then there is an "ok" button. I have a program on my computer called "Bridge Commander" so I am assuming that is where this message is coming from. I really do not want to uninstall this game because it would lose my saved games. Any help would be very much appreciated!

If the game works fine this is likely not the problem but if you've run ad=aware or antispyware ore even new version pf nortons reference to bridge.dll is likely a result of remnant of bridge.exe or winfavorites.exe which are adware programs. The registry entries to load this at start up are left over. There are references also in the registry to the legit game so manually removing it may be confusing, perhaps a well recommended registry cleaner or hijackthis.

Hi BagramBoy, Welcome to TSG !!
To add to what muddman said, go to start, run, type in msconfig
    Then hit ok.
Click on Selective Startup and then the startup tab. Look for that entry there and uncheck it. Apply then ok then reboot. See if that stops it!!

I just had the same problem, and fixed it.
    Here's the answer: Start/Run/regedit
    Then, find: HKey_local_machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
Then, right click on entry w/bridge.dll reference, and choose delete. That should do it.

Download 'Hijack This to its own folder http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
