    This is all I've found that sounds similar to your problem.

    Try to repair IE:
    http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/psc/img/walkthroughs/windows_9x_nt/browsers/ie_6.0/8458.psc.html

    Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Internet Explorer , click Add/Remove, click Repair the current installation of Internet Explorer, and then click OK.

    If that fails, then Backup the registry first.

    Backing up the Windows registry

    Then try the below.

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303346
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WebCheck
    and check to see if you have these two *String* keys and they are set to "auto":
    "LoadSens"="auto"
    "LoadLCE"="auto"

    Note: If they are set to "Yes"
    "LoadSens"="Yes"
    "LoadLCE"="Yes"

    Change them to:
    "LoadSens"="auto"
    "LoadLCE"="auto"
