I installed SP2 for my XP Home Edition at the end of last week. The computer worked fine for about 4 days. Then I got a message saying that NTOSKRNL.exe was missing or corrupt and that Windows could not load. I replaced the NTOSKRNL.exe file using the Windows XP CD. I then received a message that the Ntfs.sys file was missing or corrupt. So I replaced that the same way.
Once I this was done the boot up process continued to bring up the Windows XP page with the green bar showing it was loading. Unfortunately when this screen disappeared a blue screen appeared with the message in the following link........
http://www.microsoft.com/windows200...2000/techinfo/reskit/en-us/w2000msgs/1218.asp
The link is for Windows 2000, but it is the message I am receiving. I have not installed anything recently besides SP2. I tried the Last known good configuration without any success.
I've tried booting in safe mode but I get the same error message. I'm also getting a message of "Press Esc to cancel loading a347bus.sys" while booting in safe mode. I've let it go through without hitting escape, and booted with hitting escape at this message, both go to the same Error message above.
