A new Lexmark x1180 series USB printer + Zexel ADSL USB modem has been installed recently before the following faults occurred:
1. Blue screen with error message oe:0177:bff8e64b intermittently while trying to access the net.
2. Spooling errors intermittently.
Ater the computer crashes and i have to restart, I then need to re-enable the always dial my default connection in the ie6 tools menu and unplug /plug the USB modem so the icon in the taskbar reappears.
3. System resources low message intermittently appear
4. Green question mark was shown next to generic USB bus in system properties. After a search on google, two references which matched the faults were:
1.Vj, suggested that the drivers=mmsystem.dll file in the system.ini file missing and to perform a clean boot in windows using msconfig.
2. Tec guy answered majkyochems query
I tried both suggestions, but the fault continues. I replaced the two rams, checked for Trojans using ad-aware, and spybot .
I next formatted the hard drive and re-installed software. All seemed well until the printer was installed and the faults re-occurred. I returned the printer and the same model was given, same fault occurred. After that I checked for diver updates. The printer works fine on an xp computer. The green question mark was resolved by replacing it with file version 4.90.3000.1.
Please note that the original printer was connected to the parallel port. finally, I tried a belkin usb2 5 port pci card to try and solve the fault-still no joy.Windows me
