Error reformating hard drive

i am trying to reformat my drive but
it get stuck on " press any key to load cd"

any ideas why?

open cmd and type:

format (drive letter) /fs:ntfs /q /a:1024 /v:data (this is optional you can name it to whatever)

How about telling us HOW you are trying to format your drive. It would appear you are trying to boot a cd to then use its format utility.

BTW tipstir's suggestion only works FROM an installed OS and can not be used on the system/boot volume.

i was reading up on this problem
and alot of people have bios problems
i have seen to need something more
made a bootable cd of the bios and again nothing
made cd of windows and nothing changed out another of hard drives
changed the bios settings to from auto to large and lba and nothing

What esle Can i do?

I've used that on removable FDD, HDD media 15-in-1 card w/r works perfect yes through the OS but you can put the files you need a bootable CD. Let the OP tells us more then..
