error when install older programs

    i keep getting this error when trying to install some older programs... what can i do about this...programs have worked before on my xp machine.. but dont now... thanks

    16 bit windows subsystem

    c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft applications. choose close to terminate this application.
