I recently formatted my laptop and installed windows 7. In installing drivers, specifically network drivers, I installed the wrong drivers, realized deleted them and then installed the correct drivers, but now the ethernet port does not work. In device manager there is no little yellow alerts, I've scanned for hardware but nothing. Is there a way I can check the health of my ethernet port?

    Please Help.

I too have an inoperative ethernet port. I'll be following this thread closely.

I have disabled the port, uninstalled the driver, reinstalled the driver - all of that. No progress at all. I then decided to abandon the on board ethernet and use a pc card instead. That appeared to work momentarily and then I got an error report saying I had IP conflict. Once again, I abandoned the ethernet interface.

Good luck. I hope I learn something from your experience.

The complete model number is Samsung RV511. The laptop came with Windows 7 installed but not windows 7 ultimate, Windows 7 premium is what was installed originally. The drivers were installed using Drive Booster 2, it scanned the system and listed a number of old drivers that needed to be updated. Drive Booster, downloaded and installed the relevant drivers. I don't know where Drive Booster gets the drivers from.

Does a program exist that will scan my pc and tell me if my ethernet card is healthy even if the drivers are not installed? Can I check in the bios maybe?? If so, wherebouts in the bios will I find any reference to the ethernet card, make and model?

It does originally come with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

You need to do the following in that computer before we can proceed any further.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Download MGADiag and save it to your desktop.

Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program.

    Click "Continue".

Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).

Click the "Copy" button, the leave the report window open.

Paste the report back here in your next reply.
