so it might sound like a simple question but i dont know the answer haha. My girlfriends apartment has only got a Ethernet port /cable. If i was to plug the ethernet into the WAN port of a bog standard router would i get WiFi? or is there more to it than that?
    cheers for any help

Hi technoobfred, and welcome to TSG.

Yes, it could be that simple. You need to find out if the lease includes Internet access or if you need to pay extra to activate the service. The apartment management should provide information on how to configure a computer to use the Ethernet port. If they say you can just plug in and use it, they are probably using DHCP to set up the computer's network settings and you would need to enable DHCP on your router's WAN port.
