what is better to run to my cable modem a ethernet card or a USB 2.0 card. I have been running the USB 2.0 for about a year now and its been just as fast as other cable connections but some have sayed that ethernet was better. Will my connection be faster with an Ethernet card or should I just save my money and sick with what I have?

Either one should work just fine. Cable modems are capable of around 30 Mb/sec maximum speed, but are usually limited by the ISP to around 2 Mb/sec download (incoming) speed, with the upload speed usually being somewhat less. A 100Base Ethernet connection has a bandwidth of 100 Mb/sec, while a USB 2.0 connection has a bandwidth of 480 Mb/sec. Either one is more than fast enough for use with the cable modem. (Note that Mb = Megabit, not Megabyte).

Ethernet will be more stable. USB frequently has connection problems, I'd go with the connection that was designed from the ground up for networking. :)

Thanks for the help my friend had an ethernet card in his old comp. so we installed it in mine and I got a best ethernet cable I could find and this is no lie it is showing almost 2 times the speed and It stays steady. Thanks again, so it looks like Ethernet is the real winner in this match.
