I have now seen two Eudora installations, involving the sponsored versions 6.0.? and, in which the Qualcomm logo at the lower right of the screen will begin to flicker irregularly. Further operations in Eudora become impossible, and the program will hang if not closed immediately. When Eudora hangs, it may or may not hang the entire system.

In Win XP (running on an AMD Duron 750), closing a mailbox folder seems to trigger the bug (if that's what it is) every time. Sending a message may do so, but not usually. When the bug appears, CPU use goes to 100%, most of it taken up by Eudora.

A previous machine (a P60 running Win 98SE) also exhibited the same behaviour, which did not reappear when the hard drive was re-partitioned and the same software re-installed.

I have found no way to deal with the bug other than closing Eudora.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to where I might look for the problem? Feel free to offer thoughts or suspicions -- I should be able to follow them up. Of course, complete directions for a fix will not be refused. :)
