Whenever I restart/reboot my computer, I ALWAYS get this "found new hardware" message for an ethernet controller. I was given the computer by my "boyfriend" (who's into the whole "hacking" deal) and quite honestly I have NO CLUE what's in it. I run Windows XP. Could someone please help me find out what's going on? Thanks!!! :D

Sorry, I guess I should have put this in the HARDWARD section...my bad!!!

NO it WILL be a software problem so this is the place for it - first of all if your computeris full of rubbish - I suggest you start by cleaning it out - get rid of your ie cookies, history, and temporary internet files - then download "spider and get rid of the same index.dat files

Go here for spider -:

also download addaware from -:

and run that

Do this first and then we will take it from there

Same as steamwiz, Windows should not be trying to install this card at every boot. You may want to ask a moderator to move this to hardware or windows xp. I have limited knowledge of xp.

Good Luck

OOPS!, saw it is already moved.

RIGHT CLick My Computer and choose Properties. Then choose the Hardware Tab and then click the Device Manager button. Look for any yellow ! by devices listed. It should be that card XP keeps finding. If so, highlight it by clicking on it and then click the REMOVE button. Shut down the computer, then RESTART and XP Pro should find it and set it up.
