excel 2007 files open in word

Hi
First time I have asked a question so hope someone can help. Can't identify when it first started to happen but recently all excel files seem to have converted to word files. If word is already running and I try to open an excel file it opens in word and office tries to reinstall.
All excel files are displaying as word files in my documents folders. if I open excel and then open the files they do open and I can then save them in the correct format and they stay in that format.

Hope this makes sense.

try to right click a excel file any will do open with choose programme scroll to excel open with then tick always use this

Thanks Daz - Tried both of those but hey haven't solved the problem.

Hi again

Sorted it by going into control panel - programs - and then repair Office.

Thanks for your help.
