Please help. I have never had this problem before, and I hope I can explain it right.

Recently, when I type or edit content in excel (or not typing anything), excel would lose focus on the current cell and I have to click the mouse for it to show the active cell. This happens every few seconds and impossible to type. I don't know if it's a virus thing or what. I have tried copying the content to a brand new worksheet and saving it as xls instead of xlsx. but still the same issue.

I hope to figure it out before resorting to uninstalling and reinstalling office 2010 again.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

This may be caused by registry error, the possible solution is:
Push "Win+R" on your keyboard, and then enter regedit to enter the registry editor.
Click Edit >Find and then enter: UpperFilters
    Press Enter
Rightclick UpperFilter on the pop-up panel and click delete
After that, uninstall the driver of the keyboard.
    Relaunch your computer.

Thank you for responding. I have tried the steps you had suggested and the problem still persisted.

I have also uninstalled and reinstalled office 2010 but that still did not help.

The weird thing is that this only happened with excel and not with any other MS office apps, notepad, or browsers, etc..

When the data filter drop down feature is used, it's almost impossible to use (because excel would close the drop down within seconds and won't allow me to type in the filter data). I'd have to type the criterial to filter in notepad and paste it in the excel drop down menu, very weird and annoying :(

Hi ubamous, Have you tried upgrading to a newer version of Microsoft Office 365? There might be some compatibility issues with older versions of Excel depending on which operating system you are using. If your using a newer operating system like Windows 10 you might want to try upgrading to the latest version.
