I thought I had posted this, last week, apologies if I did. I can't find it.

My Excel97 suddenly started hanging at logon, then sending a warning:
"System resources are dangerously low, do you want to close Excel?"

This happens whether I try to log in to a blank page or try to log in from a file.

I have nothing else open. I have a 256 Pentium, and have never had this problem until last week. Just Excel, no other Office product. Yes, Windows 98.

To make matters worse, I have no way to reinstall 97/98 anything.

Please tell me this isn't planned obsolescence. Anybody got Bill's address?

    Excel is my life.

Did you add anything (hardware/software) to you system last week? What about antivirus updates?

    Which antivirus do you have?

I would check memory/CPU usage and do a virus scan.

To clarify my earlier post, some time ago my MS Office started doing the same thing. Once I unchecked the Office plugin option in Norton, everything returned to normal.
