Excel and Word 2010 open a blank page

    Every time I open an existing document in Excel it also opens a blank document (Book1) in a separate Excel session along with the document I am requesting to be opened. The same is happening with Word.

    I am under Win7 Home Premium and Office 2007 Professional.

    I have seen that someone had same problem, but I don't have any visio file in xlstart file.....

    Do you have a fix for this problem?

    Click on Start > Search programs and files type the following:
    winword /r
    (This will reset the default setting for Word 2007)

    Next Click on Start > Search programs and files type the following:
    excel /o
    (This will reset the default setting for Excel 2007)


    If the issue still persists, search "excel opening blank file" in Google and out of many search results, click on the one from answers.microsoft.com and follow the steps mentioned there.
