    Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to have an auto number formular on an excel spreedsheet template (similar to the auto number field used in access).

    Your assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Andrea.

Well, we all kind of work around that one.

Suppose you have a spreadsheet and you want an "autonumber" in column A, and suppose you enter a date in column B.

Assuming you start your "autonumber" on row 3 (because you type a 1 in A2), type this formula into A3:

    =if(isblank(b2),"",a2+1)

Then you copy that down as many cells as you think you'll need.

There's probably a way to accomplish it using code. I'll look around if you're interested in that.
