My computer keeps showing Excell files being created. They are called "Bi-minutely", "Bi-Hourly", and "Bi-Daily". When I open them in Excell, they are blank spreadsheets. The file extension is .csv. These files are found in almost any directory on my computer. One day, I searched and found 320 of the files. The files are usualy on 2 to 5k in size. I think this is caused by a program that I had about 6 months ago called "MyAdvantage" where you got paid to surf the web. Any help in taking care of this problem would be appreciatedl. I did uninstall the MyAdvantage program, but it didn't seem to help.

    Thanks,
    Brad.

If 98, try Start-Run and type msconfig. Go to the startup tab and see if you can find any reference to that program and remove the checkmark.

Also, just because they have the Excel icon does not make them an Excel file. CSV files are "comma-separated-values", sort of like:

    firstname,lastname,DOB,Age
    chris,mulder,04-01-1940,61
    mike,cermak,12-25-1980,20

    Like that.

No--that sound you heard was the ground back there starting to defrost.

Yeah--usually that will defrost anything frozen.

I have had same problem as Brad M. The files seem to be generated by another program (AOL IM?). I ran a virus check and several were identifed with win32/hybris as the virus. These files were deleted and I had to restore several .dll files. The performance of my computer also suffered as it slowed considerably.

Since deleting the virus files and restoring some .dll files things are back to normal (for now).
