    On opening excel 2000 i get an error message...

    Microsoft visual basic
    X – class not recognised
    Looking for object with CLSID {AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9F68-OOAAOO574A4F}

    if i click ok, the message vanishes and i can then use excel
    have tried reinstalling office but the irritating message persists.
    Any thoughts

    With Excel closed, do a find on your hard drive for the folder called XLSTART. If there are any files in there, delete or remove them. Then try Excel again.

    If it still errors, hit Tools-Option and go to the General tab and remove any directory that resides in the Alternate startup directory. Close and relaunch Excel.

    Hope it helps!
