I'm trying to set up spredsheet required for a course that I am studying. Its a petty cash summary sheet.
Column A has total including tax. Column E has tax amount. (Formula has been entered to calculate that) Columns B, C & D are for determining what account to allocate to such as Travel, Staff Amenaties, Sundry etc.
I need to enter a formula into the cell range b1:d6 that will calculate the pre tax amount but only if I enter a character in the relevant cell. Currently it calculates the value into all cells not just the relevant cell.

    Hope this makes sense:confused:

What's the formula I'll type the correct formula using cells B1:D6 maybe you're typing it wrong? I'll have to try the formula myself so I can give you a better answer.

I know the formula but I dont want to have to type it in manually. If I add the formula to every cell that might be relevant then it puts the answer in every cell not just the one that is relevant. I'll try and upload the form so you can see what I'm trying to do.
