I'm making an excel sheet and I'm having trouble figuring out the formula to automatically highlight the cell intersection point of a date in a row that equals the same date in a column.

    Date 5/13 5/14 5/15
    5/13
    5/14
    5/15

I want to highlight the space the dates intersect

I assume the dates are in
    column B1,C1,D1
    Row A2,A3,A4

ok so conditional format should woork

    =IF(A2=B1,true,false)
trying to work out how to copy that copy>paste special format
    and not getting it

    I guess in B2
    =IF($A2=B1,true,false)
    and copy horizontal
    then in B3
    if(A3=B$1,true , false)
    and copy vertically
bit i think you will need to do that for each cell and copy down

When I entered that in I could get the entire row to highlight, except the one cell that should. Let me add a little more and see if this makes a difference

    Date 5/13 5/14 5/15
    5/13 5/14
    5/14 5/14
    5/15 5/15

Some dates go multiple dates so I would need both those dates represented in the highlight

    Dates 5/13 5/14 5/15 5/16
    5/13 5/14 x x
    5/14 5/14 x
    5/15 5/16 x x

The x's would be the cells I would need to automatically highlight
