    I'm in Engineering and have created an excel spreadsheet that shows information of someone that will be checking out an AutoCAD/Manual Drawing. There are two columns P6-"Date CHECKED-OUT" and Q6-"Drawing Due Date"; the P6 column I tried creating a formula that shows today's date [=IF(B6<>"",TODAY(),""]. However this formula isn't doing what I'd like. If information was saved for yesterday I'd like that date to stay the same rather than update each day. The formula is doing it's function properly, but I need to find a formula that will keep the P6 column on the specific date it was entered and not change the next day. The Q6 column is doing it's function and just providing a date 30 days from P6; that one was pretty simple. But I'm coming across issues with P6 and would love some assistance as the end users are using the copy & paste function to enter data and the P6 column is automatically entered with a date. That date should stay the same from when the end user used the copy & paste function.

    you can use a time stamp formula
    here are examples
    http://chandoo.org/wp/2009/01/08/timestamps-excel-formula-help/
    http://www.howtoexcelatexcel.com/excel-tips-tricks/create-a-timestamp-in-excel-with-formulas/

    change the iterations options as shown in links above and use
    =IF(B6<>"",IF(P6="",NOW(),P6),"")

    I have added to your example attached here
    In column A , I have copied the contents of B - just so i had the codes used
    Now as you re-enter them into the B column - a date will be entered in P6 and stay the same

    If you also want to include the time - instead of today() use now()
