Every other apps work except Excell. get the following msg when I try to open the application:

EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.

I have reinstalled at least 3 times with no success

    Thanks for any help

have you checked the error log to see what it states?

start > run > eventvwr.msc and click on 'application' in the left pane. Copy and paste as much of the error code as you can.

Here is a copy of what appeared in Event Viewer:

Detection of product '{00040409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}', feature 'OfficeUserData', component '{C9AF9050-C8BE-11D1-9C67-0000F81F1B38}' failed. The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\UserData' does not exist.

in the event viewer, at the top, there is a thing called the 'event i.d.'. Find that, go here, and track down the event i.d. Post back if MS's solution works.

    Did not have solution

I deleted the Application and System logs

Tried to start Excel, said it was making an entry in the error log, however when I looked in both the Applications and System logs there was no new entries. :(

Have you tried using the Office CD and instead of installing it Just Repair it?
If not Try Reinstalling just Excel as a custom installation.
