 I have an Excel Shared Workbook. I have multiple people editing by changing row color. The color formating is not always retained after saving and closing. It is being editied by people with office 2007. It is being saved in compatability mode (.xls) The file was originally given to me as a .csv.

I have seen several posts out there dating back to 2008 but no real answers. We have lost days worth of work.

Is the file still a csv?

Saving from a CSV to Excel format does not mean it will have any sort of normal formatting. I have run into this issue quite a few times with just the data and have had to edit the formatting for the proper data type. Not sure about the color issues

It is odd because some of the changes stay and others don't. If you highlight 10 rows, save and close, then when opened 4-6 random rows will no longer be highlighted.

I would go through the columns and see what format each are in. I have had CSVs with what were supposed to be numbers having an extra space in front of them not formating as numbers, remove the space and they would format correctly.

There are 11 clumns and 19,000 row. The columns are either a number or text. The number columns seem to all be formated correctly. No leading spaces or zeros. The The only thing we are doing is changing the fill color.

Someone had configured sorting column headers. I unshared and removed those and reshared last Friday. Thought it might have fixed it but the color formating change disappeared again today.
