My friend called me from work and has a problem with excel I believe 2000 on Win 2000. He had a workbook open overnight and when he tried entering any data in any cell the value showed as 1/10 what he typed in. Such as he would type 40 and it showed 4 in the cell. If he typed 6 it showed as .6. I had him open a new workbook and the same thing happens. I had him reboot, same result. I then asked him to remove excel and reinstall it. He did and has the same problem. The head of their IT department wasn't able to solve the problem. Any ideas? Are there any viruses that do this? Is there any global registry entry that can cause this? Thanks for any help.

If you do not get any suggestions, I would recommend having him email it to you and then attach it to a reply in order that we can review it.

Rename the XLS file to TXT one before attaching it.

I have to wait until tomorrow when he goes back into work to check my theory. I'll keep you posted.
    Thanks
