My friends computer has excessive hard drive activity while idle.

I'm sure there could be other explanations than malware, but I have not been able to find another explanation as of yet.

    OS is Windows XP.

McAffe is the the main virus scanner used; I have never seen it find anything.
I also tried Trend Micro online scan; nothing showed up with this scanner either.

When I look in Task Manager (while the hard drive light is almost steady on) there are no applications open. When I look at the processes I see several instances of SVC Host.
Again, this may be perfectly normal, but I was looking for what uses more memory and this seemed to be where a good portion was going.

So what should I do first?
