At frequent intervals, the Hard Disk start working overtime for a few minutes at a time, during which period the computer is non-responsive.
I have all auto-updates disabled (except for Kaspersky - which doesn't appear to be the problem).
I cannot find what is causing all the HD activity, and a Virus Scan reports all clear.

I have posted an HiJack this log, and would be grateful if someone would give it a quick look over and see if anything is showing up that could be causing all the activity.

    Many Thanks!!!

Try Disabling Norton Speed Disk...you can run manually when you want

If Norton is your Anti-Virus then it maybe conflicting with Kaspersky also

Window updates is also running...you can disable it for now as a test too

    Hi Megabyte!

    Thanks for the quick response!
Windows updates was set to notify only, but I have disabled it altogether now.
I Only have Norton Systemworks Basic on my machine, and do not have Norton Antivirus installed (it was but I removed it using the Norton Removal Tool before installing Kaspersky).
I cannot see where Speed Disk is started from - it doesn't show up in msconfig or the Norton Options. I'll dig deeper!

    Click Start > Run > type services.msc

Locate the Speed Disk service, stop it and leave it on manual.

    Hi Phantom010

Thanks for that - I'll go and see to it now. I have also disabled ccapp.exe as I am not running any Norton Security products, andonly use Norton Utilities as and when required.
