    hi all,

im a beginner when it comes to techy/computer stuff. i saw this tech support guy forum when i searched for help and had noticed some members who had their pop ups problems fixed with your site's help.

hope you can lend me some help as well with this one.

i had to deal with this annoying pop ups issue just last week. it started when i noticed that there was a new program installed in my pc- desktopsmiley. it even changed my toolbar- added some few things in my search engine which i didnt like. i wondered how this was installed- i really didnt install any of these- i asked my bro- said he didnt <fyi- what he said was the only site he went to was y8> i uninstalled it thinking that it was the end of it. oh boy i was wrong. thats when the pop ups started to flood me. it was irritating.

just to give you guys a heads up, below are the sites that had been popping up whenever i surf the net:

well, i tried to fix it. run a virus scan. i have mcafee installed in my pc- found nothing.

some more details about my pc- not sure if this is of help but might as well put this up:

    im using firefox version 3.0.6
    specs- microsoft windows xp
    professional version 2002 sp2
    intel pentium 4 cpu 3.06ghz
    448 mb of ram

this is the HJT log that i got-
