Hi,

I have this realy annoying web browser window that pops up everytime I start Internet Explorer. It must have automatically installed itself when I went to a site, but now I can't get rid of it. I've scrolled through my add/remove software choices. but there is nothing there that it could be. How should I go about ridding of it.

Thanks in advance.

First you can download Spybot Search & Destroy from here :

http://www.spywareinfo.com

Run that and it should highlight any offending items running on your system. If not sure what its safe to delete then post back here.

Next to stop unauthorised install do this :

In internet explorer go Tools > Options > Advanced.

Scroll down to Browsing where there are 2 boxes 'Install on Demand' if they are ticked - untick them. Click Apply to make this change. This will prevent anything installing to your system in this underhand way such as toolbars, or xxx website dialers, etc.

For more related software look here :

OK, did all that. At least it shouldn't happen again. But Spybot didn't get it. Any other suggestions?

How about a little more detail. So we have a better idea of what to do.

Well, I don't know WHERE I got it. It appears to be a "lop.com" toolbar/window. It opens as a stand alone window, above the windows toolbar.

thanks

doing a search here for lop.com now

In the meantime you may be able to go to start\run\type in msconfig
untick lop on the startup tab

It should, providing all updates have been installed.

It can then still happen occasionaly, if a LOP domain is used that isn't yet in the SB database.
