Is it Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?

What happens if you Run:

C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.SCF

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

Let us know.

Hiya and welcome

Have you just done this? Have you checked to see if you have a virus?

http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

If not, reboot to DOS and at the prompt, type the following. There is a space before /

scanreg /restore

and choose a date prior to when this occured. on't pick the oldest date.

So what happens if you select Start, Run, and type: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.SCF

And click OK. It will determine if the executable has been delete or only the shortcut.

If the file itself has been removed, it won't be put back through Scanreg /restore.

And why exactly are you assuming that Windows Explorer isn't there any more?
Are We talking about C:\Windows\Explorer.exe?

Then do as Eddie suggested run Scanreg /restore

Which will restore the Windows Registry, which will most likely fix the problem. Please work with us and do as suggested so we can help you fix your problem.
