I have a windows 2000 box that is driving me crazy. Everytime I try to open internet explorer I get the error that explorer.exe has generated error and will be shut down. I also get this same error when I try to access my network places. I ran a scan disk and no bad clusters were found, but obviously something is messed up. anyone got any ideas????
Thanks guys!!!!!!!

Would you please press the "details" button in that error message, and tell us the exact text?

Example error: "Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll."

iexplore.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program.

There is no details button. Just ok. When you click ok it shuts the program down. It does this everytime I try to open it.

OK, would you please do this:

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.
