Explorer XP is good, but is there better?

ExplorerXP is great, but I was wondering if there was a manager with cooler features, like a filter or a search function.

I use xplorer² - too many features available to list [check the site for that]. You can also make it the default prog for opening folders.

For best use(in this case = optimum cpu/ram use), you may find that a desktop replacement works well with xplorer², as this eliminates the need for explorer.exe to be running at all [if X² is set as as default for folders].

lister, how do you make xplorer² the default and turn off explorer.exe? I really like xplorer² and have been using it for quite a while, but I never figured out how to make it the default.

In Folder Options, for the file folder entry there should be an open_x2 entry, just make that default.

You can't turn off explorer.exe unless you have something to replace it with - I use Aston Shell, but there are a few others.

Can't seem to get it to work. I can right click and pick open with xplorer2, but if I just do open, it still uses windows explorer.

EDIT I did a reboot and now it's working, thanks.

In Folder Options, for the file folder entry (in File Types), click Advanced, there should be an open_x2 entry, just make that default (Set Default).

I'm very sorry, but I didn't specify. I want a free one. I tried the free version of xplorer2 a while ago, and it wasn't as good as ExplorerXP.

The thing I like best about xplorer2 is that it's a dual pane explorer (even the free version). But if that's not a feature you would use then maybe you should stick with ExplorerXP.
