I dont think the cd has th .cab files required because it cant find the directory however i tried getting it off the c:\ drive and it says it can't find it there either. This could also come down to do the hard drives go up a letter as well as the drives? that could be the culprit. Please assist.. :confused:

What is it you are looking for?

Cabinet files are most often found in c:\windows\options\cabs

Or sometimes a "Win98" folder if that has been copied from the CD.

The best utility in Win98 for extraction is the System File Checker (run: sfc) if you can access Windows.

From the CD, the cabinet files are in the Win98 folder.

example:

extract /a d:\win98\base4.cab filename /l c:\windows\system

[base4.cab=search for unknown source cab]

The hard drive should not go up a letter, unlike the CD drive, when you use a startup disk.
