I read somewhere about putting the system pagefile on USB flash disk and that this could improve performance on the system quite a bit?

Would it make a lot of difference as its Solid State? I guess it has faster access times..
Is it worth doing and if so what type of memory stick would be best?

Modern systems with enough ram hardly access the page file as it is now. I really doubt you are going to get any better performance by putting it on a usb drive [unless your system just does not have enough ram then maybe]

As for getting a ssd drive, it will really speed up your system. I have an ocz vertex2 drive and I could not be more pleased with the performance. It boots win7 in 12 seconds after post; about 20 seconds from pushing the pw ON button. Makes everything just run quick.

On the downside, ssd is cutting edge tech SO when you use something that is cutting edge, there are going to be patches, firmware updates, bios updates, etc.

Yeah, forget about the pagefile...put the whole OS on a fast SSD and then you have that fast access time for everything.
