    Hi,

I have 3 external hard drives from old laptops. I purchased a refurbished Dell Desktop PC 18 months ago. I've never had to use my old drives with it, until now... and they don't seem to show up anywhere and I can't access the data. Can anyone help please? Thankyou

are these all connected via a USB
sounds like a PC issue if ALL three are not seen
What windows version do you have on the new PC
and what Windows version was on the PC you use to copy the drives

Are they in a case - does the case need power , is that working on all three drives?

Hi Wayne, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

They are all connected via a USB
I'm not sure that my PC can be to blame as it's just had a complete (remote) overhaul by Microsoft
I've got Windows 10 on this PC
I'm not sure how to answer your 4th question but if you're asking what windows versions the laptops that housed the 3 drives were, then I can't remember but Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 ring bells!
All the hard drives just look like hard, rectangular boxes to me - one silver and 2 black. Approx 5'' x 2''.

    I hope all this helps!

Oh and the hard drive boxes have a little usb port to enable them to be connected to the Modem via a USB lead.

Did you put them into the USB cases
Have they been tried out before on other PCs
for all three to not work - means
    a) the PC is not detecting the USB
    b) they have not been connected to the USB box correctly
    c) they have all failed together

Did they all come from laptops ?
    5"x 2" would be a 2.5" harddrive
If so then the power will be coming from the USB connection
just connect one - three maybe be taking to much power from the PC

    is this what you have

    EDIT
what do you mean connect to a MODEM ???
this would connect to the PC not a modem
if you wanted to use on a modem or router that has media service or file sharing that would need to be setup in the modem/router
