I have an Ultra Harddrive Enclosure holding an IDE HDD. It has always worked and i've never had troubles having my computer recognize it, aka I could always edit the files on it etc. But just a few days ago I was deleteing a lot of files from it as it was getting extremely full (less then 1% disk space left). Once i finished deleting a bunch of files, I restarted my computer and was going to defrag the harddrive but my computer couldn't recognize it anymore. I have all the necessary driver (firewire, USB, etc). and the computer actually can tell it is physically plugged in, but when ever i try to get the computer to let me get into the drive, the computer freezes up.

I know alot about computers, have built several customs ones and can usually figure out any computer error, but this one has me stumped. i've done a fair share of research on the hard drive enclosure.

If it helps, before i erased a bunch of files from the harddrive, i scanned it for viruses and spyware and nothing came up.

please help! this harddrive had a lot of important files on it. i pretty sure the harddrive wasn't wiped but there really isn't a way for me to tell as i can't look into it.

    thanks
