Will my external WD hard drive (used for backups) work with a PC that has internal SATA drives only ?

Since external hard drives use a usb or firewire connection, yes it should work.

sorry, I read into it something like you wanted to use the drive as an internal drive. Guess I should go get some sleep :)

USB drives don't know or care what kind of interfaces are used inside the comptuer. In addition, I have two systems here that have both SATA and IDE drives, they mix freely. :)
