I have a windows xp desktop, and a windows vista laptop and neither one will recognize my SimpleTech 500GB back up drive. I used the xp desktop and a drive cloning program to clone my desktop HD to the external back up drive. Now neither one of my computers recognizes the drive.

I have looked in disk management and it does not show up there. Computer management shows it as an unknown device. I have tried updating the drivers, but they are not found. However Driver Detective software shows the driver in the unplugged devices section.

I really don't know where else to look or what to try. I've tried installing various drives from my laptop hd looking for the driver that Driver Detective says is the correct driver to boot it up, but nothing I've tried from there has worked either.

Any suggestions? I've been working on this for the past 5.5 hrs and I'm ready to pull my hair out.
