What games are you trying to play?

Your video card is outdated; buying RAM may help, but your video card is really dragging down your performance.

There are different types of RAM for different computers, so make sure you know what kind yours is using.

Also, buying a 40$ stick of 512 MB RAM is not a good idea. It would most likely be very cheap and slow.

go to crucial.com and look for the memory congfigurator... this will ask you some questions about your PC (model, maker, etc) adn then based upon that you will get the type of ram you need to buy, the maximum amount you can install, and how much it will cost.

You may want to update your drivers for your video card as well.

Overall, yes more ram will help with the hiccups... but a better video card in the future of the machine would help even more

512 mb of ram for gaming is minimum. I would go with alteast 1 gig. But if you dont have money, just go with 512 mb of ram and see how that works for you. Make sure to buy a 1 stick ram thats 512 mb, that way, if you want to upgrade later on, u can always buy the same stick to get it up to 1 gig.

Also, i think a geforce 6100 should be good enough to play newer games at low settings with at low resulotion, so if u dont care about graphics, go ahead and stick with it. U can always upgrade if that doesnt work out for u.

OK, well, just so you know, I have played postal 2 on my system.. (specs below)
I think I had everything turned up, but still had some slow load times and the game would "jump" just a bit..

So I would look into good RAM, but be hunting for a better video card.
