Hiya

I assume that you extracted the bin using WinRar. What is it that he has supposedly sent you? Have you virus checked it?

Anyway, you can read its contents by rightclicking and choosing Open With... Ensure that Always Open programs of This type box is unchecked and choose Wordpad.

A .bin is just a generic extension for a binary file, it just denotes to you that its a file thats not a plain ascii text file.

Err.. the file IS virus checked - clean.
And I won't be able to see anything when opening it with my wordpad, because the file is 265 MB in size (it's a program). So how can I make use of this huge .BIN file now??
Thanks!

Hiya

What type of OS are you using? This may take me a while as I don't know, myself, what to use.

I use Windows2000 Pro SP2 on a PIII 800 MHz CPU with 512 MB RAM...
I don't think anyone can help me with this .bin file... I'll have to ask my friend about it.

Yes I'm talking about AutoCad 2002!
And it is NOT from any ware* site or whatever! The dad of my friend's friend bought it, and packed the CD content into some RAR files - but the only thing in those files is this .bin file!
What t.h. am I supposed to do with this .bin file now??
It's called "Autodesk AutoCAD2002.bin" and is around 265 MB in size! Please help!

Hiya

Do you have a copy of WinRar or did you use WinZip? Is there anything else in with the RAR file, or was there more than one? bin or rar?

You might also want to check out this program

Woohooo!! Thank you so much for this link!

The program 'IsoBuster' was able to extract the .BIN file and Autodesk works fine now!

My friend's dad must have created a CD-image (this .bin file) which I was unable to read! IsoBuster just works like WinZip or other extraction utilities.

Thank you again! You've helped me very much!!

Unless you paid for a license for the software, installing it on your computer is illegal. It is the same as downloading it from a warez site.

FYI: A BIN file is similar is purpose to an ISO file.
