Hi, scripts from FB keep stalling sites on my computer. FBook will load but not allow a logon. And these are starting to stall the laptop which i have used to try and keep using FBook. i saw threads to block ak.fbcdn.net for other browsers but dont know if it works for IE8, nor do i know how to block it anyway. THe Java update solution doesnt work for me i'm not on a 64 bit Windows.
    thanks

Click Tools > Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites > Sites.

    Add static.ak.fbcdn.net.

thanks I did try that already. didnt know if it needed the http stuff so did not add it. Not sure if it made a diff or not, i was able to log in to FB shortly after doing that but when my own page came up it was frozen and i could not scroll or comment or anything else.

FWIW i get a 'script slowing down the page' when i pull up this site too. :-( So far i can just click "yes, stop running the script" and move on.

havent had login trouble on other sites (Yahoo, Paypal, etc) secure or otherwise. Tried an alternate id on FB and that one froze too. Task manager always says "running" until i do an "end task" on the FB site. When i was searching for answers yesterday i found that some sites like MajorGeek would also freeze with script hangups that appeared to be related to Facebook and am thinking it (MG) must have a FB page. I was surprised i was able to get in to this Forum/website since it has links to FB displayed, but so far so good.

Make sure not to set all websites in Compatibility View:

    If no luck,

Keep InPrivate Filtering enabled at all times.

OK opened Inprivate, went to FB and it opened a Name New Device window as if a different computer was logging in, and froze there.

have run AVG and SPYBOt. Compatibility view didnt help either. Am now at the point that if a page other than FB freezes, I can hit "Delete Browsing History" which will open slowly and do its thing, then i can access the page for a few minutes, after which it freezes up again (example, PayPal and eBay). This doesnt help FB at all. The toolbar doesnt work. Its as if some cookie or tracker is still in there throwing out a hook as soon as a FB "like" or other ad link tries to run.

    anybody else having this problem?

Have you tried Running IE8 Without Add-ons?

As a test, try disabling JavaScript.

To do so, open IE, click Tools > Internet Options > Security tab > Internet > Custom Level.

Locate Scripting near the bottom of the list.

Under Active Scripting, select Disable, then hit OK.

1- Please click HERE to download HijackThis.

    2- Run the program.

3- Click on the Main Menu button if not already there.

4- Select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

5- Copy and paste the scan log from Notepad into your next reply. Do not attach it.

6- Do not "Fix" anything unless advised to do so.
