I recently did a system restore to factory settings and now my computer is running very slow. I have done all the windows updates and checked for any updates on the drivers. I also defraged it. I noticed that the physical memory is always very high between 85 and 100. The CPU is 10-50. I can not find a reason why it is this way. Are there any suggestions of things that I cam do to help this problem.

What's the brand name and model name and model number of that computer?

How much RAM does it have?

    --------------------------------------------------------

Go to Start - Run - MSCONFIG - OK - "Startup" tab.

Write down ONLY the names in the "Startup Item" column that have a checkmark next to them.

If the "Startup Item" column isn't wide enough to see the entire name of any of them, widen the column.

Submit those names here in a vertical list.

Make sure to spell them EXACTLY as you see them there.

You didn't say how much RAM is in your Gateway NV55C, but that model laptop appears to come with 4 GB of RAM and supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM.

Since it comes with Windows 7(64-bit), you might consider maxing it out.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

Download and save and then install the free version of

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.65.0.1400

    SUPERAntiSpyware 5.5.0.1016

After they're installed and their definition files updated, run a quick scan with them.

After the quick scans are finished, select and remove EVERYTHING they found.

    That's great, and you're welcome. :) (y)

Keep them installed and put them to use once a week. Make sure to run their update feature first.
