Failed Restore Attempt Win2000

    Trying to restore Windows from the cd on an integrated WIN2000 system. A "failed" ""restore" attempt error occured. The CD drive stopped working after the failed attempt, but it still recognizes the cd burner, which is not intergrated. Any clue as to what we might try? tc

    Did you try to boot the Windows cd from the cd burner? Press any key to boot from CD..??

    And if able to do so try to repair the installation. You have two options (1)enter the repair console or (2) bypass the first propmt for the repair console and select install. At this point you will be asked if you want to repair the installation of windows 2000.....
    The second option is my preferable way to go as it brings the system to a clean install state except it leaves your installed programs intact. It does however remove windows updates.

    I copied the windows data from the CD to floppies, using another PC and was able to get it to reload. tc
