I have latest drivers, Pc Specs are

    P4 3.0Ghz 1gb ram (pc2700 - 2x 256 + pc3200 1x 512), 40gig seagate, 80gig maxtor, GeForce6600 (agp 8x)

Any help would be great, iv done countless searches but none pertain to my problem.

Also on the side note whenever i have bitcomet running and listening to winamp there is a lag (skip) every few seconds in the track. I doubt its a ram issue i have 1gb for gods sake. Also i have a mouse Problem where the cursor freezes but the mouse still works. Link to the thread which pertains to that

go to start, click on run then type in msconfig

then click on the tab that says startup

then uncheck these uncheck these items

AdMunch.exe (everyone who uses it always has a problem with it slowing things down)

    also uncheck

    uphclean.exe

if you are on a router and are not using a wireless connection to connect to that router, in the msconfig window, click on the tab that says general then click on "selective startup" then unchececk the box that says load startup items

after that click on the tab that says services

then click on hide all microsoft services
then uncheck everything in that list.

    then after that

untheck the box that says hide all microsoft services

after that, look through the list for a service called indexing service
    then uncheck it.

after this, apply then click on ok then restart

Indexing service has been removed. I do use a wireless connection however iv disalbed all startup options except the wireless service + neccessary wireless componenet.

Will reboot n tell you how it is..

The mouse problem is the most innoying tho

    :edit:

after this i realized not the sligthest increase in speed at bootup

however may i add that while the scren is loading teh bios info is coming i noticed that the point which seems to take the longest is the part which reads "mouse initialized" as soon as that appears windows logo appears with the progress bar however for the 'mouse initialized' to appear takes approximatly 10-20 seconds. Can it be an error in the bios, that i have possibly messed up? Can this be a reason for my locking up of the mouse cursor?

ok i seem to have caught the cuprit its using PIO transfer mode i will do teh neccessary changes and will tell you how it turns out.. If there is an overall increase in ssytem performance, this may even solve the slow burning problem i have.

    ok im following this guide

    http://www.michna.com/kb/WxDMA.htm

but the first one failed, the PIO is on the Primary IDE channel however it says to remove secondary IDE channel which one hsould i remove?
