I live in egypt and LinkDSL is my ISP, i have a 2 mbps connection and i mainly use it for gaming such as World Of Warcraft, Call Of Duty: Black Ops, Battlefield BC2 and my ping\ms is normally around 70-150 but yesterday during a game and all of a sudden it said "Connection Interrupted" then the game resumed with 350 ping and since then my ping in all games increased to at least 400. I called my ISP but they said as long as the download speed and browsing speed is normal they cannot identify the problem, i have been having it for 2 days now wasting my warcraft subscription :\ however not sure if this will help but here is a tracert from the server i play on:

Don't see there is much you are your ISP can do as the problems appear to be on the connection from Egypt to Paris and after.

Steps 1, 2 , 3 ,4,5, and 6 are very good and the connection is in Egypt.

7 shows a direct connection from Egypt to Paris that is fair.
    7, 8, 9, and 10 are Paris
10 is the switch from ae in Paris to Telia in Paris
11, 12, and 13 are Telia in Switzerland

Rechecking the tracert and I did miss something. Just guessing, but looks like you have this setup.

Step 1 - computer to router all <1 ms very good

Step 2 - router to modem? ICMP ping appears to be off on this device, so no readings. Can't tell if there are any problems there.

Step 3 - modem? to ISP server? 77 ms 14 ms 5 ms 172.18.202.153 Would difference of only abot 4ms here. Wide variance in pings would indicate a possible problem. A cable going bad or loose/faulty connections.

ISPs are not responsible for other networks as they can't control them... plus your friend's ISP may be connecting to a different server that you are connecting...

but the problem most likely lies between hop 6 and hop 7 and if hop 7 is not your ISP then you are out of luck there unless they will be willing to contact that server's company.

It is out of your control and your ISP's control unless your ISP is willing to talk to the other provider. Read a book.

pretty much... You would not be the only one affected so I'm sure if you kick up enough stink their engineer department will contact them because others will have the same issue. Do you know anyone else that uses the same ISP?

That shows you what type of company they are... if you request a manager you should get one.

Honestly you should report the company to your country's version of the BBB and then switch companies... the issue is on that connection between them and the other server.
