This one has me stumped! I've gotten this message while running Desperados and Red Faction. I can't run either games because of it...what's up.

It reads "Fatal Exception OE at 0028:C16BDED3 in VXD ASP4WAVE(01)+00014553".

As near as I can guess it's a sound card problem but everything else is running fine.

Please tell me more! Thx!

BTW...this is my first time here but it looks to be real useful to alot of people, so keep up the good work!

Hiya and Welcome

It seems that it happens with games at random. Some complain of some working, some not, but all different.

First off, you could try updating your soundcard. If you would like someone here to find out if there are any latest drivers, just post the name of the card. If you don't know the name try this:

Control panel | System. Device Manager tab. Click on Sound and there you will see the name of the card. You may need to expand to see fully.

Also, if new drivers are not needed or you want to try this first, by going to Run and typing in dxdiag. Or you can try this from Find Files and Folders. Once there, go to the Sound tab, and try decreasing the slider bar for Hardware Sound Acceleration level. Remember the setting it is on now as this seems to work with the majority of your software. Just decrease it for the odd game. Apply and OK.

Regards
