I have an IBM computer with a 8 GB hard drive, and 320 mg ram. Recently I went from windows 98 to 98SE. I am up to date on all of the window updates.

My problem is that I have a daily occurrence on my pc which is ' A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0167:BFF5A2B2. The current application will be terminated'

Any help would be greatly appreciated in how to solve this.

What is the pattern, if any, to the error? Does it occur on startup, shutdown, online, or off. Or is it purely random?

The address suggests a possible video driver issue, but this is never a sure thing.

Did any other changes precede the problem other than the upgrade -- such as installation of new programs or hardware?

Let's see a HijackThis scanlog for the purposes of knowing what is currently running, and ruling out malware conflicts:

Download and install HijackThis using the "self extractor". Run it and select "do a system scan and save the log file". Then copy/paste the contents of the log to a reply

There are no malware problems in the Scanlog. More feedback on the "pattern" is needed.

Older versions of this update have caused problems for some:

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [KB891711] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KB891711\KB891711.EXE

See the sticky in this forum and see if Windows update has a later version than the one you installed.

You can also disable this by running msconfig and unchecking it under the startup group or you can uninstall it through Add/Remove programs.
